I haven’t read this passage since I was a teen, some 5 decades ago- but I think it was in Arthur Miller’s ‘Tropic of Capricorn’ if I’m not mistaken. The main character dug a hole in the ground and humped it, saying, “I’m going to fuck you (the Earth) so you stay fucked”. It was a powerful image for a kid like me, and it instantly came back to mind when I saw this photo!
